Zero Waste in Printing: Kao’s Solution for Truly Circular Toner Remanufacturing
On 30th March, the UN’s International Day of Zero Waste, we highlight the importance of reducing electronic waste and promoting sustainable solutions. Printer manufacturers (OEMs) have embraced remanufacturing as a key strategy to minimise the environmental impact of used toner cartridges, aligning with the principles of the circular economy. However, residual toner has traditionally been incinerated, adding environmental and financial costs.
Kao offers a truly circular solution: by designing cartridges from the outset with Kao toner, OEMs can ensure that the toner recovered from used cartridges maintains its quality and can be fully reused. This means that, instead of waste toner accumulating during remanufacturing and requiring disposal, Kao integrates it back into new toner production, preventing it from ever becoming waste.
With this approach, OEMs can further close the circular economy loop, minimise their carbon footprint, and enhance sustainability without compromising print quality. Kao takes ecodesign to the next level, rethinking consumables so that every toner particle is fully utilised, driving a more responsible printing industry.
This Zero Waste Day, let’s commit to making remanufacturing truly circular with Kao!
